| Teachers as Leaders (EE) (June 23- June 27, 2008) 3 graduate credits |
| Build leadership through professional development. The new cornerstone of the 3E curriculum model explores leadership in context of professional development and provides teachers with leadership knowledge and skills. Participants will create a personal professional development plan that focuses on making teaching and learning more effective throughout school and district.

| Entrepreneurial Educator (EE) (July 21 – July 25, 2008) 3 graduate credits |
Transform creative ideas into classroom practice. This course examines the context for change in educational systems. It supports educators at all levels in generating innovative instructional ideas. Collaborate with peers while you draft proposals to implement your ideas. Get feedback an experienced panel.

Emerging Science and Technology (EST) July 14 – July 18, 2008) 3 graduate credits |
Experience problem-based learning – first hand. In this course educators deepen their understanding of Problem Based Learning as an instructional technique that incorporates essential 21st century skills. In this innovatively designed course, educators develop both content knowledge and pedagogic expertise. Experts from business & industry and higher education deliver core content. | Quantitative Literacy (QL) (July 7 – July 11, 2008) 3 graduate credits |
Integrate Quantitative Literacy across the curriculum. In this exciting new course, educators deepen their understanding of what it means to be quantitatively literate. They collaborate with peers to develop ideas for lesson plans and curriculum development. The course explores three topics critical to quantitative literacy. It supports educators considering how to integrate QL into their courses. Educators also share ideas and receive feedback from experts in business, industry and higher education.

| Applied Learning Seminar (August 4 – August 8, 2008) 3 graduate credits |
Re-Usable Curricular Units. This is an opportunity to create re-usable problem/project-based curricular units using open-source web-based tools and interactive online environments. Educators who have seeded instructional ideas in any of the other 3E courses will have the opportunity to enhance their target concepts.”

| 21st Century Educator Externship (June 24 – September 30, 2008) 3 graduate credits |
Learn what business & industry look for—and how to prepare your students. In this 35-hour fieldwork experience, educators are partnered with a company/organization whose work is related to the educator’s core content/specialty area. During the field work placement educators interview and job shadow members of a business team. Then they connect the interviews and work of the company to the classroom. Participation in an orientation and debriefing session are required.
Eligibility: Middle and high school educators
