2009 3E Forum Honors Innovators, Partners, Champions of Education
We hope you didn’t miss the 7th Annual Business and Leadership Forum at the Union League of Philadelphia on April 16th. The Forum rolled out “better than ever” this year and enthusiastic comments prevailed.
Distinguished Educator 500
- President’s Award – Gerry Lenfest, business entrepreneur and philanthropist
- Champions of Education Award – Lockheed Martin, accepted by William Graham, President, Enterprise Integration Group, Information Systems and Global Services
- Dean’s Award – Judith Finkel, professor emerita and entrepreneurial education pioneer
- 3E Founders’ Award – Don Leisey, education leader and educational entrepreneur
- Director’s Award – The Life Science Career Alliance, accepted by Colleen A. Hamilton, Executive Director
With a crowd of over 260, we honored 65 Educator 500 from 22 school districts and other schools:
Academy in Manayunk, Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Chester County Intermediate Unit, Chichester School District, Colonial School District, Delaware Valley Friends School, Downingtown Area School District, Garnet Valley School District, Great Valley School District, Kennett Consolidated School District, Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, Montgomery School, Phoenixville Area School District, Public Cyber School, , The School District of Philadelphia, Unionville-Chadds Ford School District, West Chester Area School District, West Chester University.
During the program Lionville Middle School Teacher Deborah Kearney and Lockheed Martin Project Manager Rob Corry reported out on their experience of a 3E 21st Century Educator Externship and the follow up collaboration on “Engineers in the Classroom.”
Another milestone was the presentation of the first WCU Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurial Education to Patric Parris of the PA Leadership Charter School.
The reception for new Educator 500 following the main program included four information stations on opportunities at 3E and one information station by IBM on their voice recognition literacy software for early readers. The Ambassadors did a great round of short remarks on how 3E programming can help educators develop as entrepreneurial educators.
