Educator 500
·Spotlight Educator 500 - Laketa Dumas, a public school teacher in Detroit, Michigan, acknowledged in 2010 for her unique Educator 500 project (click here to view the project write-up), also won the distinguished Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education and a prize from the (national) Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education.  Her project was the first inclusionary entrepreneurship program in the US designed for a mainstreamed class of disabled and general education students, from Kettering West Wing and Marcus Garvey Academy.  Laketa just sent word about her original learning materials, RU Ready 4 BIZness, which are being used in schools in her area.  She is also applying for Educator 500 for a second project implementing her materials with a team of teachers.  Check Laketa’s web site at www.ruready4bizness.com.

Student Teacher Educator 500

Advisory Council News

On Sunday December 18, founding 3E Advisory Council member Don Leisey was guest speaker at West Chester University for undergraduate commencement of the College of Education, the College of Business and Public Affairs and the College of Visual and Performing Arts.  Don delivered words of reflection, encouragement and inspiration, citing the 3E Institute as a prime example of West Chester University entrepreneurial spirit.  He also encouraged all the new graduates who become teachers to explore the opportunities of the 3E Program.  In closing Don shared his career motto: “DO GOOD! WORK HARD! HAVE FUN!   Don is co-founder of the International Academy for Educational Entrepreneurship (IAEE). He has alerted us that IAEE named Dr. Richard P. Borkowski, a WCU graduate, as their 2011 Educational Entrepreneur of the Year. Maureen Pomeroy, Director of Internal Training at Bentley Systems, Inc., has joined the 3E Advisory Council.  Maureen has participated as a guest business expert in the Entrepreneurial Educator course of the Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurial Education.  Bentley Systems, Inc., is a host company in the 21st Century Educator Externship of the certificate program - click here to see the certification program description.
